Can’t have everything – Flee market report

Obviously every good piece went at once. I saw a nice storm lamp that disappeared before I made it to the table it was on. I viewed a small box with medieval etchings. It was nice but really wasn’t what I was after. I went back five minutes later to look at it for a second time, but it was gone.

I saw a beautiful cavalry sword, but it was well preserved and therefore out of my price range. I stood at that table for a looooong time though.

Nautical map North Sweden 1695Other things outside of my price range were some 1800-style tables, most likely made later, since they didn’t have a scratch on them. There was a small coffee table that caught my eye, ok price, but I knew I had no place for it in my flat, so I kept on walking.

I eventually settled on a cheap replica/reprint of a 1695 nautical map. I would have just skipped it, if it wasn’t for the fact that the map showed my neck of the woods.

Keeping up with the nautical theme, a sub story in my ‘Blood and steam’ series by the way, I also bought a ship steering wheel and bell with a small mallet for hitting the bell. It missed one of the steering handles so I haggled the price down by 25%. When I got home I took out the bottom steering handle that was covered by the mallet anyway and moved it to the missing part of the steering wheel. As new. 🙂 Picture below.

On my way out of the flee market I saw an old alarm clock. I figured that even if it might not be in working order, 2 punds or 3 dollars, was a cheap price for cogs and spare parts for future builds.

Total spending: 120 SEK.(about 10 punds, 17 dollars). Not the cheapest, but I’m happy about the trinkets I found.

Hoping to find some gadgets and trinkets on a flee market this weekend. Planning to decorate my writing corner.
